Selling my Industrial Hobbies / Charter Oak Automation 12Z manual bed mill. This machine is about the largest you can go before stepping up to a full size bridgeport or knee mill. Since it's a bed mill it has a sturdy stand for storage underneath and breaks down into bed, column, and head for easy transport. It's an ideal home garage machine or cnc conversion using kits for the PM940. I've had it for a little over a year and kept it clean and lubricated but selling to make room for a CNC. Original owner barely used it so all the ways are like-new with no noticeable wear. I also recently disassembled, inspected and cleaned the whole spindle head.
Details:
Travels 26" x 12" x 22" (XYZ) with 5" quill.
R8 spindle, manual draw bar.
X-axis power feed (115v) with limit switches.
Hand crank Z axis (also have drill adapter).
Quill fine feed with adjustable spring return.
Spindle head can rotate about Y axis.
Heavy welded steel base, powder coated with tray for flood coolant setup.
Manual lubrication points.
Hand wheels 0.100" per revolution.
Weight ~800lbs with stand.
Overall size 60" wide, 40" deep, 76" tall to top of column and 92" with the head cranked all the way up.
Aftermarket upgrades and accessories:
2hp Baldor 1750 rpm motor
2hp 220V single phase VFD with 6-50 plug
2 speed belt drive kit upgrade (made by ArizonaVideo for the PM940), which includes replacing the stock tapered roller bearings with SKF angular contact bearings. Much smoother and quieter than the stock gear head and it can go upwards of 5k rpm with infinite adjustment and quick reversing for power tapping. All the original parts of the spindle head also included.
3D printed way covers with easy to clean teflon coated fiberglass sheets
Plastic table covers to keep T slots free of chips.
Two Kurt D60 6 inch vises - recently stripped, cleaned, and rebuilt with new needle thrust bearings for butter smooth operation. Each come with a set of hard jaws. 3D printed tool trays on the back that also keep the screw clean of chips.
Strap clamp and stud kit
18 R8 collets in 3d printed rotisserie holder (full set plus duplicates)
Shars Tegara 1/32-1/2" R8 keyless drill chuck, lightly used
Small face mill (needs inserts)
Asking 00, which is a fair discount over what this machine and all the upgrades cost new. The original company took down their website but I can send screenshots of the product page if you ask and there's a lot of forum posts and online content from other hobbiests about this machine.
